Harry Bunn rescued a point for City's Elite Development Squad against Bolton at Leyland, though the Blues ended the game with ten men.
Tom Eaves put the Trotters ahead after just three minutes when he struck a low drive past Gunnar Nielsen from 15 yards.
The Faroe Islands international kept his team in the hunt with several decent stops in the first half, though City were never out-played during a fairly even first half.
The Blues equalised shortly after the re-start when the unmarked Bunn headed home Andrea Mancini's cross, though there was still drama to come when Abdul Razak was shown a straight red card for a rash challenge on Bolton's Obadeyi just moments later.
The hosts upped the ante thereafter but found Nielsen in excellent form and when the City keeper was finally beaten in the dying minutes, the assistant referee's flag meant the goal didn't count and the spoils were shared.
Most pleasing for coach Andy Welsh was the fact Michael Johnson got another vital 77 minutes competitive action under his belt and youngsters Courtney Meppen Walter, Tom Smith, Joan Roman and Alex Henshall all more than held their own on the night.
