The Under 18s put the disappointment of Wednesday's exit from the FA Youth Cup behind them with an excellent win away to Crewe on Saturday morning.
Despite the wet and windy conditions, both sides made an entertaining game of it, with City's goals coming from Alex Henshall, and a pair each from the Harry Bunn and Joan Angel Roman.
Academy manager Mark Allen said, "The lads did everything we asked of them in response to the disappointment of going out of the cup. We played some great football in difficult conditions, and it was the perfect way to bounce back."
