City's Elite Development Squad ended their season in style with a thumping 4-0 victory over Chelsea at Hyde.
Goals from John Guidetti, Abdi Ibrahim, Harry Bunn and James Poole mean City will finish runners-up in the Barclays Reserve League North and the four-goal margin was no less than Andy Welsh's side deserved.
With Shay Given getting much-needed match practice following a shoulder injury in goal, City raced out of the blocks and were ahead on six minutes when top-scorer Guidetti beat the offisde trap and then beat the Chelsea keeper with a well-placed shot.
Ibrahim made it 2-0 on 26 minutes with a lovely curling drive to put City firmly in the driving seat by the break and there was more of the same after half-time.
Second-half subs Bunn and Joan Roman combined to make it 3-0 on 71 minutes with Bunn turning home the Spaniard's cross and Poole finished smartly after being set up by Guidetti to make it 4-0 just three minutes later to complete a satisfying evening for the home crowd of 690.
