City's Under 18s are hoping for a favour from their Manchester United counterparts after defeat in their final league fixture kept their hopes of winning their group on ice.
The Academy side are still just a point ahead of Blackburn Rovers at the top of Academy Premier League Group C, with Rovers away to United on Wednesday, 2 May. A draw would see City level on points with Rovers but remaining ahead on goal difference.
The final scheduled league fixture of the season ended in a disappointing 4-1 loss away at Stoke City, with Jordi Hiwula grabbing City's only goal. The young Blues struggled after conceding an own goal early in the second half, and they now must wait to see how Rovers fare in midweek.
