City U18s sealed a place in the FA Youth Cup semi-final with a 2-0 win over Norwich City.
City did have the ball in the net in the 12th minute but referee Darren England ruled it out as he adjudged Lukas Nmecha to have handled it in the build-up.
The young Blues didn’t have to wait long until they took the lead though with the opening goal coming seven minutes later.
Demeaco Duhaney picked out Brahim with a perfectly weighted cross field pass and the young Spaniard brought it down with one touch before firing past Oxborough for the first goal of the night.
It was nearly 2-0 shortly after but Buckley’s driven shot fizzed across the face of goal and narrowly wide of the upright.
Norwich looked to get back into the game as the half time whistled approach but City were able to repeatedly deny them and heading into the break with a one-goal advantage.
Manu Garcia tested Oxborough early on in the second half, forcing him into a smart save down to his right but the Norwich shot stopper couldn’t do anything to prevent Garcia getting on the score sheet in the 73rd minute.
The 18-year old drove towards the edge of the area before unleashing a ferocious strike from 20-yards out to leave Oxborough rooted to the spot.
Nmecha had a chance to give the young Blues a three-goal advantage only a minute later but Oxborough produced another good save to deny the England youth international.
Four minutes added time were indicated at the end of the second half and City saw them out to secure their place in the last four, where they will face either Liverpool or Arsenal over two legs.
