Looking back through the history books for the events, signings and memorable matches that happened on this day in City’s history.
Tuesday 6th August 1991
At £2.5m, Wimbledon defender Keith Curle signs for City and becomes the most expensive British defender yet. Curle, a quick-thinking and speedy centre-half is purchased by manager Peter Reid and soon joined by Wimbledon full-back Terry Phelan as the Blues purchase half of the Dons’ back four. Curle will go on to become a big crowd favourite at Maine Road as well as taking on the captain’s armband.
One of my childhood icons. Him and Vincent would of been immense together in centre of defence
