Looking back through the history books for the events, signings and memorable matches that happened on this day in City’s history.

Saturday 27th February 2010

Roberto Mancini’s side come of age with a spectacular 4-2 win at Premier League leaders Chelsea to move fourth in the table.

Frank Lampard puts the hosts – who had collected 37 out of a possible 39 points so far that season at Stamford Bridge - ahead on 42 minutes, but Carlos Tevez’s sheer determination sees him out-muscles two Chelsea defenders before rolling home the equaliser on the stroke of half-time.

Craig Bellamy then puts the Blues ahead on 51 minutes and after Juliano Belletti was sent off and Tevez scores from the resulting penalty on 76 minutes to put City well on their way to victory.

The game is over as a contest when Michael Ballack is shown a second yellow card shortly after and Bellamy adds a fourth against the nine-man home team.

Lampard pulls one back deep into injury time but it was too little, too late for Carlo Ancelotti’s well-beaten side.
