City beat Manchester United 3-1 at the City of Manchester Stadium to end the Reds’ 11-game unbeaten run. Goals from life-long Blue Trevor Sinclair, and Darius Vassell, put City 2-0 up before Cristiano Ronaldo is sent off for a lunge on former player Andy Cole. United pull one back through Ruud van Nistelrooy, but City secure the win in the final minutes when Robbie Fowler makes it 3-1 with a typically clinical finish. The win was Blues' third derby win in four at home and was a much-needed boost after a dismal festive period in which City garnered one point from a possible 12.
