Looking back through the history books for the events, signings and memorable matches that happened on this day in City’s history...
Thursday 19 July 1990
Howard Kendall’s City start their Swedish tour with a 4-0 win over Pitea. It was Kendall’s first full pre-season after joining the Blues part-way through the 1989/90 campaign. City score 32 goals during the five tour matches in preparation for what would be a solid season.

Jo leaves City for Brazilian club Internacional. The forward was Mark Hughes’ first signing for the Blues, joining from CSKA Moscow in July 2008 but didn't show his best form in Manchester.
The 24-year-old made a total of 41 appearances, scoring six goals in total but at times he struggled and was loaned out to Everton midway through the 2008/09 season. He then returned to Goodison Park for part of the following campaign, which also included a loan spell at Turkish giants Galatasaray.
In his final season for the club, he spent a large amount of time on the bench, playing the occasional game here and there for Roberto Mancini and found the net just three times in the Carling Cup and Europa League.
