French international defender Gael Clichy joins City from Arsenal, penning a four-year deal with the Blues. Clichy joins ex-Gunners Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Adebayor, Patrick Vieira and Stuart Taylor at the Etihad Stadium and will challenge Aleksandar Kolarov for the first-team left-back berth. He cites a desire for silverware as his reason for leaving the Gunners.

Despite spending much of the 2001/02 season on loan with Newcastle United, the Paris St Germain star opted for Maine Road when the Magpies dithered over a permanent deal.
