Tony Coton joins City from Watford for a fee approaching £1m.
The highly-rated goalkeeper becomes the Blues’ No.1 and rarely misses a game during his first three years at Maine Road, before a knee injury begins to affect his form. He eventually joins Manchester United in 1996, becoming a goalkeeper coach after retiring as a player. Hero to zero in one move!
Tomorrow: Joe Mercer is appointed as City’s new manager in 1965
