Looking back through the history books for the events, signings and memorable matches that happened on this day in City’s history.
Saturday 3 November 2001
Shaun Goater scores a 34-minute hat-trick as City beat Gillingham 4-1 at Maine Road. Darren Huckerby adds a fourth. Though Goat's tally for the season was already 20, Kevin Keegan felt he should have had more.
"Shaun still misses some and he could probably have scored twice as many as he's got already this season," said the then-City boss. "Twenty goals so far is staggering, but if you'd seen us play, he could have had a lot more by now."
Wednesday 3 November 1937
Defending champions City defeat Sunderland 2-0 in the Charity Shield at Maine Road. In the past the Shield was held at the ground of the champions and the Blues took full advantage of this, goals from Alec Herd and Peter Doherty secured the victory that set the new campaign off to a flyer.
