Looking back through the history books for the events, signings and memorable matches that happened on this day in City’s history.

Saturday 13 October 1979

Brian Clough (pictured below) sees his European Cup-winning Nottingham Forest fail to score at Maine Road for a third successive season as Kaziu Deyna’s solitary goal gives City a welcome 1-0 win.

Deyna had also scored the only goal in a midweek 1-0 win over Middlesbrough just three days earlier as the Polish World Cup skipper finally began to show the flashes of brilliance that had made him an icon in his homeland.
