Looking back through the history books for the events, signings and memorable matches that happened on this day in City’s history.
Wednesday 20th October 1978
City announce a record profit of £267,000 at the club’s annual general meeting. Covering a 12-month period up to May 31st 1978, it shows how football has changed over the years with the Blues’ record profit barely covering the weekly wage of one of its top stars of today.
Tuesday 20th October 1998
City hit a new low with a 2-1 defeat at Lincoln City. With Joe Royle’s side struggling to adapt to life in the third tier of English football, the Imps send Sincil Bank wild as the Manchester aristocrats are sent packing on a miserable night on Humberside. Even City’s goal is scored by a Lincoln player (Holmes) as serious question marks are a raised about whether the Blues will ever recover from their current plight.
