Looking back through the history books for the events, signings and memorable matches that happened on this day in City’s history.
Wednesday 6th September 1967
Goals from Paul Hince and Neil Young give City a 2-0 win over Newcastle United at Maine Road as Joe Mercer’s side record their third successive League victory.
The strike from Hince is a dream come true, especially as it’s only his fourth game for the Blues – he managed to score twice on his debut against Wes Brom six months earlier – but his hopes of nailing down a first-team spot are dashed when Francis Lee joins City from Bolton a few weeks later taking the No.7 shirt – and Hince’s place with it.
