Vincent Kompany is confident that City are heading back into Europe - but he's desperate to ensure that it's the cream of the crop he and his team-mates are facing next season.
The trip to Burnley kicks off a seven-game countdown that will decide if the Blues can pip rivals Tottenham, Liverpool and Aston Villa to the all-important fourth place.
Kompany has watched his former club Hamburg make progress to this season's Europa League quarter-finals - but the hungry Belgium star has his sights set on bigger things for City.
Vincent said: "I've no doubt that we will be back in Europe soon. I've played Europa League and had four years in the Champions League, and for me it's got to be the Champions League.
That's what the whole team is aiming for. It's a very tough task, but being in the Champions League is something that would be a very nice present to the City fans
"Whether it's this year or next year, it will happen. We're looking forward to enjoying the big nights, but we have to be humble about it now because we are not there yet."
Tonight's hosts Burnley are battling at the wrong end of the table but gave a good account of themselves in forcing a 3-3 draw at the City of Manchester Stadium in November.
Kompany added: "It was one of those results that has made it so tight for fourth place. If we just did what we had to do, then we'd be competing for the title, not just Champions League.
"But that's what happens when you've got a new team trying to blend together - little mistakes are made. But we are still in there competing for something that matters.
"No away game in the Premier League is easy. But three points has to be our target, and we have confidence in ourselves after bouncing back from a bad result to beat Wigan."
