Ryan McGivern is enjoying life back at City - but the Northern Ireland defender is ready to go out on loan again after his season chasing promotion with Leicester.
The Foxes eventually missed out on the Premier League but left-back McGivern is in no doubt that his spell in the midlands was beneficial to his football education.
He has deputised at centre-half for the Under-21 squad's first two games, a 2-0 win at Hyde and a battling 2-1 defeat at Macclesfield, and is looking forward to a new campaign.
He said: "It's good to be back and see the boys again. I'd like to stay and progress to the first team set-up, but there's a lot of good players here so it's going to be difficult.
"It's great to be a part of a club like this, you can only learn from the quality players we've got, but maybe I'll go out on loan again to get some more experience under my belt."
Ryan added: "I ended up spending the full season at Leicester because I stayed on after Christmas. I got 15 games, which was another good experience for me.
"We had a good side and stayed in the play-off positions all season, so it was good to be involved. I made my debut against Palace in a 2-1 win and the 2-0 FA Cup win against Swansea stood out for me as well.
"Nigel Pearson is one of those who gets the best out of his players. His man-management is very good, and I don't think many people expected such a good season after promotion.
"It was a great level to play at and very competitive. They say everybody can beat everybody else in the Championship, and I think there's a lot of truth in that."
