Vincent Kompany is demanding a repeat performance of last Sunday from his team-mates at as the Blues prepare to face Stoke on Saturday.
City found the Potters a tough nut to crack last season with just one win in four league and cup meetings, but Kompany believes nothing less than three points are needed as the Blues try and build up momentum going into December.
“We have Stoke next and I wouldn’t say they were any less difficult than Fulham because both are difficult teams to play against, particularly on their own ground,” he said.
“It will be a tough, physical challenge but we will go into the game in great confidence and really go for the win.
“We’ll be prepared because Stoke gave us a number of tough encounters last season and they were up the challenge each time. They are also on a good run of form at present so it will be a real test, but if we play to our maximum in defence, midfield and attack we are a match for any team.
In fact, if we show the kind of mentality we did at Craven Cottage on a weekly basis, we will have a very good season
While Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has declared his team as potential title candidates, Kompany says City should focus no further than Stoke and let the results do the Blues’ talking.
“Other teams are welcome to talk about the title if that’s what they want to do, but we are only thinking of our next game,” said the grounded Belgian.
“We’ve had some good performances this season but this was of a very high standard, but this is the level we need to match the heights we reached last Sunday every time we play and for the rest of the season.
“We can’t slip or only perform the way we did against Fulham every now and then - we need to be consistent until the last kick of the season.”
