With the first team and coaching staff based somewhere in the Midlands for the clash with Birmingham, Carrington was more like Holby City rather than Manchester City today...

Shaun Wright-Phillips was in for some fitness training in preparation for the weekend Premier League clash with West Brom. Though there was plenty of speculation about Wrighty's future during the January transfer window, City fans will be happy to see he's still a Blue.

Elsewhere, injured winger Adam Johnson chats with Strength and Conditioning Coach Jon Webb about his path back to fitness - hopefully, AJ will be a quick healer and his damaged ankle ligaments will respond well to treatment.

The medical department is never quiet and American specialist Bill Knowles and Head Elite and First Team Physio Jamie Baldwin inspect and discuss the recently-returned Mario Balotelli's knee - which, fortunately, is still safely attached to Mario's leg!

There's no time to for our injured stars to put their feet up with a series of intensive work-outs to follow - to the letter - in a bid to get the boys back as quickly and safely as possible. Here, Adam smiles off Mario's request to sign his leg brace. They'll be missed against Birmingham, that's for sure.

Talented youngster Joan Roman is ready to step up to the plate according to those in the know - here, he steps on to the Power Plate before filling his plate in the players' canteen. Tapas and Spanish omelette could well have been on the agenda...

There's no time for lunch for EDS boss Andy Welsh who appears lost in paperwork prior to tomorrow's Manchester Senior Cup tie with Bury at Hyde. Wait a minute... what's with the Connect 4 board, Andy?
