There could be plenty of names in the frame for the January Etihad Player of the Month award.

The goals were spread around but in-form strikers will always catch the eye, and Carlos Tevez is no different. Captain Fantastic found the net four times in the month, including one of the best goals you will see all season in the thrilling win over Wolves, when his all-round performance also inspired the team to turn around an early deficit.

Edin Dzeko looked right at home in his first few games for the Blues, laying on the chance that Yaya Toure leaped upon against Wolves, before bagging his first City goal in the draw with Notts County in the FA Cup sponsored by E.ON.

Adam Johnson had hit a rich vein of form prior to the ankle injury that has sidelined him for a couple of months at least, scoring against Blackpool and Leicester as well as turning in some influential performances.

Aleksander Kolarov had been itching to get on the score sheet and finally did so in the replay against Leicester, and Vincent Kompany has been as consistent as ever.

And on that subject, Nigel de Jong was his usual combative self and even – whisper it - came close to scoring when he struck the post in the defeat to Aston Villa. That goal celebration is going to be worth waiting for when it finally happens!

Voting closes on February 7, and to make your selection click here.
