Vincent Kompany and Joe Hart celebrated another pair of clean sheets and the clinching a pre-season trophy by promising there is more to come from the Blues.
Roberto Mancini's men made it five summer tour wins on the trot with a three-goal demolition of Inter Milan in the Dublin Super Cup and will be hoping to make it six against equally in form United at Wembley next Sunday.
Captain Kompany is sure that City have plenty more gears through which they can go.
“We played well that is the main thing,” he said. “We could have had more goals but we are pleased with how we performed.
“We have had a good pre-season with no bad performances and we are full of confidence. We know we can raise the level even more. We will raise our game at Wembley I am sure of that.”
Hart, who made a couple of stunning second half saves showing his reflexes and agility, agreed with his skipper.
“We have done really well. We feel we have improved,” said the England goalkeeper.
“There were some really good performances. David Silva has won the man of the match and deservedly so. Sometimes it looks as though football is too easy for him. He is a pleasure to watch and he has hardly done any training pre-season!
“We are all looking forward to Sergio Aguero joining in. I haven’t seen much of him but the little we have seen in training has been exciting. We know he is an exciting player and he is what we are all about. A young team full of good players moving forward.”
