Rumour mill: Nasri closing gap on Sanchez

Just like the UK Top 40, the Rumour Mill, it seems, can see new entries coming in - as they say - with a bullet.
As you may have noticed, we've been keeping a close eye on each and every transfer rumour linking the Blues to players around the globe to illustrate how many column inches City take up these days.
Alexis Sanchez has easily topped the pile since we began keeping tabs on May 25, but with the Chilean apparently wanting a move to Barcelona over the Blues, his star is beginning to dip and he has only added two to his tally of 60 in the past seven days.
Luka Modric was the closest rival to Sanchez on 24, but with only one mention in the gossip columns plus a statement from Spurs saying the player isn't for sale, means he has now given up second spot to Samir Nasri, who has come from nowhere to add 29 to his previous total of 11. The Arsenal star now trails the leader by only 22.
Wesley Sneijder, Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas have all stalled, too, but there has been a rush of Press money for Stefan Savic who adds seven transfer links to City to move on to 12. The bookies have stopped taking money on Gael Clichy switching from the Emirates to Eastlands, suggesting a deal is likely - otherwise he could have added 31 to his tally.
New additions this week include Inter midfielder Radja Nainggolan,Udinese striker Antonio de Natale, Santos forward Neymar, Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik and Inter's Samuel Eto'o - though the majority of those stem from one widely used piece in the News of the World and may have been created from little more than a 'who do you like in Serie A, Roberto?' question.
As ever, any genuine signings will be announced officially on mcfc.co.uk first, so until then, watch this space...
