Yaya Toure showed City fans more of what they have been missing for the past month with a wonder goal in the Ivory Coast’s 3-0 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final demolition of Equatorial Guinea on Saturday night.

Chelsea’s Didier Drogba had a penalty saved before scoring in each half though Yaya stole his thunder with a sumptuous free kick.

Drogba struck with his right foot on 36 minutes and his head in the 69th – from a Yaya free kick - as the Elephants made it four wins from four matches and set up a semi-final date in Libreville next Wednesday night.

African Footballer of the Year Yaya’s stunning effort came in the 81st minute when he curled a near 30-yard free kick over and around the wall to find the top corner.

Ivory Coast are now the bookmakers’ even money favourites to land the crown. They have such strength in depth that Chelsea’s Salomon Kalou and Newcastle’s Cheik Tiote didn’t make the starting line-up. Kolo Toure did however form part of the Elephants' defence.
