You can't always get what you want, as somebody once sang. Roma midfielder Daniele de Rossi, it seems, is not ready to be enticed from the Eternal City to the rainy one.
As they point out, "Roberto Mancini has made no secret of his desire to bring the 28-year-old Italy international to the Etihad Stadium," but it won't be in this transfer window.
There's a proper agent's quote: "De Rossi wants to stay at Roma, even though as a professional he wants to optimise his (financial) situation. My feeling is that an agreement will be reached.
"De Rossi's current deal is due to expire at the end of the season. Pasqualin revealed that the two parties are discussing the size of a release clause in the new deal."
Meanwhile, the story that Inter Milan will offer Wesley Sneijder in any deal for Carlos Tevez is doing the rounds again, despite denials from the Italian club and his agent.
The Mail nevertheless reports: "Inter Milan hope to beat city rivals AC to the signing of Carlos Tevez by offering Manchester United target Wesley Sneijder in return.
"The struggling Serie A side are desperate to add some firepower to their ranks after a desperate start to the season left them looking over their shoulder at the relegation zone."
But La Gazzetta dello Sport has a front-page snap of Tevez with AC Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani, and the Mail adds that "reports in Argentina say Tevez has already picked his new home: a luxury four-bedroom apartment ... at a cost of £4,600 a month."
