Real Madrid could effectively be out of the race to win La Liga after a surprise 1-0 defeat to Real Betis.
Jose Mourinho’s side are now 11 points adrift of leaders Barcelona and may struggle to finish runners-up after Atletico Madrid beat Sevilla 4-0 to move eight points clear of their fierce rivals.
Ajax scored twice in the last ten minutes to stay on the trail of leaders PSV Eindhoven.
Schone and City’s nemesis Christian Eriksen scored to give the Amsterdam side a 2-1 win over relegation-threatened Roda JC.
Borussia Dortmund also came from behind to win but remain nine points behind Bayern Munich despite a 2-1 away win to Mainz 05.
Robert Lewandowski enhanced his reputation yet further with two goals to take his tally to nine for the season.
The Blues may be bottom of Champions League Group D, but as things stand, Roberto Mancini’s side are the only team in the group on course to retain their title!
