Joe Hart was in realistic mood after possibly his best display in a City shirt.
The England goalkeeper, who won the Performance of the Season in 2010/11 after a stunning solo display against Tottenham, at least equalled his White Hart Lane heroics against Borussia Dortmund with as many as half-a-dozen top drawer saves.
Hart was quick to defend his manager’s tactics when asked if a change in formation from three central defenders to two cost City a goal.
“They were getting chances when it was three at the back, four at the back, ten at the back," said Hart.
"We've got to be happy with a point. It could have been 10-10, their keeper was fantastic and both sides had a lot of chances.
"Can I recall a night when I was that busy? Not off the top of my head! Dortmund were different class tonight. I hope it wasn't a wasted effort, I think this shows what a tough group we're in.
"But Mario's never going to miss the penalty. We pushed hard, we needed a point, we've come out intact and the group is still alive for us."
