Real Madrid may have claimed the bragging rights with a 3-2 win over City at the Bernabeu, but it hasn’t been an ideal start to the season for Mourinho’s men.

Los Blancos have managed just two wins out of five so far and find themselves 7th in Spain’s La Liga.

Having said that, the Madrid outfit look like they may have turned a corner, following up their victory over the Blues with a 2-0 away win at Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.

Goals from Karim Benzema and a Cristiano Ronaldo penalty sealed the three points at the Estadio de Vallecas.

Meanwhile, City’s next Champions League group stage opponents suffered their first league defeat in a year at the weekend.

Borussia Dortmund went down 3-2 away to Hamburg in the Bundesliga, dropping their first points of the season.

One man the Blues will want to keep an eye on when Die Borussen visit the Etihad next week though is midfielder Ivan Perisic. The Croat looked in top form as he bagged the brace for his side on Sunday.

Dortmund celeb

After hosting Dortmund, it’s Ajax away for the Blues. Frank de Boer’s men have won three and draw three of their opening games in the Eredivisie.

De Godenzonen’s last encounter saw them draw 1-1 with Den Haag, a game they would have expected to get more from.

Reports from the Kyocera Stadium suggest Ajax weren’t at their best and that perhaps a changed side struggled to cope after a tough 1-0 defeat to Dortmund in the Champions League a few days previous.
