City scored a late winner against Wigan Athletic last week and have managed to find the net 16 times in the final ten minutes this season – quite a haul and the mark of a team that keeps believing until the final whistle.
But who scored them? Here is this week’s list of late goal-scorers….
4 goals: Edin Dzeko
Edin has bagged goals in the 80th, 87th 88th and 90th minutes this season, earning City and extra seven points from either losing or drawing positions. For points won, Edin tops this late goals list.
4 goals: Carlos Tevez
Carlos has scored goals in the 80th, 84th and 85th minutes for the Blues this season, plus another three minutes into added time. His goals have earned City an extra three points so far this campaign and he is the current top scorer with 17 strikes to date.
2 goals: Pablo Zabaleta
Yes, Zaba makes another appearance on another list! Not only is he a rock in defence but he had developed a penchant for late goals, scoring an 86th-minute equaliser against United in the home derby defeat and an 86th-minute winner in the FA Cup tie at Stoke – not hard to see which his favourite goal-time is!
The erstwhile Balotelli goal was from the spot against Borussia Dortmund to earn the Blues a 90th-minute equaliser. Kolarov’s goal also came in the Champions League with an 85th-minute goal away to Real Madrid while Gareth Barry’s 93rd-minute goal against Reading won a frustrating home game.
Nasri’s 80th-minute winner against Southampton, James Milner’s 89th-minute effort against Sunderland and Marcos Lopes’ debut goal a minute into injury time complete the late strikes list!
Interestingly, Sergio Aguero is among the late list, though he has scored five goals in the ten minutes before, bagging goals in the 73rd, 74th, 74th, 78th and 78th minutes to date…
