Manuel Pellegrini will have to wait a week to work on defensive frailties as a host of Blues stars head off around the globe on international duty.
Thirteen first team stars will be hoping to feature for their countries in the round of friendlies taking place this week ahead of the Premier League season kick off.
All the fixtures featuring a City representative take place on Wednesday, except for the Ivory Coast’s game against Mexico in New York which kicks off at 2am BST on Thursday.
Abdul Razak has been called up for the Elephants.
The two teams face each other for the first time since 1999 as part of the FA’s 150th anniversary celebrations, and the City duo will be seeking more caps having featured regularly for the Three Lions under Hodgson.
Elsewhere, a trio of Blues could be facing off against each other when Belgium take on France at 8pm BST on Wednesday evening. Vincent Kompany is likely to captain the Belgian side in Brussels, while Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri have been called up for Les Bleus.
Stevan Jovetic is likely to be in action for Montenegro when they visit Belarus for a 4.30pm BST kick off, while Aleks Kolarov is in contention to face Colombia in Barcelona at 7pm BST. His international teammate, Matija Nastasic, misses out through injury.
Bosnian Diamond Edin Dzeko is a key player for his country, and will be looking to add to his 29 goals for Bosnia and Herzegovina against the USA at 8.30pm BST.
The Argentinian squad travel to Rome to take on Italy at 7.45pm BST, and Pablo Zabaleta will be aiming for a starting berth as preparations continue for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Finally, EDS midfielder Emyr Huws has been named in the Wales U21 squad for their UEFA Qualifying game against Finland at Bangor City’s BookPeople Stadium.
