Karim Rekik watched Blackburn Rovers’ 1-0 win over Arsenal from the bench as he appeared for the first time since his loan move to Ewood Park.
With Rovers so resolute in defence, the youngster was not call upon this time, but should see some first team action in the coming weeks with a busy Championship programme looming.
Reece Wabara appeared as a second-half sub for Blackpool at Ipswich, but the hosts scored what proved to be the only goal of the game just two minutes after his arrival as Blackpool continue to struggle.
Wabara will hope to see more action in the coming weeks after his impressive spell with Oldham Athletic.
Alex Nimely continues to wait for a chance to impress Ian Holloway at Crystal Palace and Jeremy Helan’s Sheffield Wednesday did not play last weekend due to the FA Cup. Adam Drury sat on the bench as Burton Albion thrashed Fleetwood Town 4-0
The system works best when loaned players see regular action and with that in mind, Ryan McGivern has proved a great success story at all the clubs he’s been with over the past few years.
Now a seasoned regular with Hibs, he saw another full 90 minutes as the SPL outfit saw off St Mirren in the Scottish Cup.
Omar Elabdellaoui is enjoying his stint with 2.Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Braunschweiger who beat Jahn Regensburg 1-0 to remain at the top of the table.
