City midfielder James Milner has shown his support for club and country teammate Joleon Lescott, who has received a late call up to Roy Hodgson’s England squad.
Lescott was left out the original group of players named for the World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Montenegro with the England chief stating he had played “too little football.”
However, the 30-year-old has now been drafted in to boost the team’s defence in place of the injured Michael Dawson.
“Whenever Joleon plays he is ready to go, I see it every day at City,” said Milner.
“We still have a strong squad; the players coming in are decent so I have no worries at all.”
Milner, who is set to make his 36th appearance for his national side, admitted both games are must wins for Roy Hodgson’s men.
“These are two big games for us and we're moving forward all the time and that's a positive. You'll see improvements in the team,” he declared.
“Both games will be great, the sort you want to play in and they're tough games. It's important we keep doing the right things.
“Hopefully we can score an early goal against San Marino and then get a few more. All we can do is beat them and take it into Tuesday.”
We will be following the progress of all City players involved in international duty next week, so keep checking mcfc.co.uk for regular updates.
