Yaya Toure hopes City can set a trend of winning silverware every season if they secure the FA Cup this weekend.
The midfielder believes consistency is key for the Blues as they look to build on previous success and add to the Club’s expanding trophy cabinet.
“It is very important to try and win trophies every year,” asserted Yaya. “That is why I signed my new contract with the club, to help make history and to try to help achieve this aim,” he asserted.
“We have already won some trophies and we have the chance at another. But we also want to try for the Champions League, more Premier Leagues and of course, more FA Cups too.”
Yaya’s 74th minute strike against Stoke ensured FA Cup success for the Blues in 2011, giving the club a first major trophy in 35 years.
Two years on and the Ivorian is hoping to be in the middle of the action once again.
“I want to deliver a good game and help the team to achieve something important,” he said.
For me the most important thing is to win the game and to give something back to the fans - to achieve something is very important
A solitary Carlos Tevez goal separated the two sides when Wigan visited the Etihad Stadium last month and Yaya admits the Latics will be formidable opposition yet again.
“Wigan are a great team, they have a great manager and they have quality players,” he said. “They play good football and we need to be focused and concentrate because we know it’s going to be tight.”
