Edin Dzeko will join team-mates David Silva, Joe Hart and James Milner by returning home next week after Bosnia’s 1-0 defeat to Nigeria.

The Super Eagles now require just a point from their final game to guarantee passage to the next stage while Bosnia’s two defeats mean they now can’t qualify.

It will be a bitter pill to swallow for the Bosnians who saw a first-half Dzeko goal wrongly ruled out for offside – and then Peter Odemwingie scored what proved to be the only goal of the game shortly after on 29 minutes with a smart finish from close range.

Both teams had chances to score after the break, but when Dzeko struck the post in injury time, Bosnia’s last real chance had gone.

Bosnia now take on Iran in their final game and will look to end the tournament on a high with a first World Cup victory.

In tonight's other game, Germany drew 2-2 with Ghana.
