Six of our loanees were in action this past weekend, while four are still waiting for their leagues to return following their winter break…

We start our round-up of our youngsters that are on loan in the Football League with a trip to the Championship.

Shay Facey’s loan move to Rotherham was confirmed on Saturday morning, and he made his debut just hours later at Deepdale against Preston North End. Facey played the full game as Steve Evans’ side lost 2-1 after Jonson Clarke-Harris scored an own goal in the last minute to leave Rotherham in 21st place.

Keeping with the second-tier of English football, and Bruno Zuculini was an unused substitute for Middlesbrough as a 2-0 win over Derby County at the Riverside Stadium moved Boro four points  clear of the second-placed Rams.

In League One, George Evans played all 90 minutes as Walsall relinquished top spot, suffering only their third home league loss of the season at the hands of Rochdale at the Banks’s Stadium.

To complete the round-up of our youngsters on loan at English clubs, we head to League Two and focus on goalkeeper Ian Lawlor, on loan with Martin Allen’s Barnet. They travelled to Northampton Town on Saturday, but were on the wrong side of a 3-0 score line, although Lawlor did manage to pull off an impressive double save – as you can see below.

Looking outside the UK, and Seko Fofana’s Bastia were back under way after their short winter break as they travelled to Sedan in the Coupe de France, also known as the French Cup. The 20-year-old played the full game as they secured their place in the next round with a 2-0 win against the French third-tier side.

Yaw Yeboah made his first appearance for Lille in nearly two months in the same competition, coming on in the 85th minute to replace Éric Bauthéac as Les Dogues also secured their place in the next round after beating AC Amiens 1-0.

In Italy, Olivier Ntcham could be involved on Tuesday when Genoa resume their Serie A campaign with a home game against Sampdoria as they look to move away from the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, the Dutch and Belgian leagues are still on their winter break, which means that Jack Byrne (Cambuur), Thomas Agyepong (FC Twente), Divine Naah (NAC Breda) and Enes Unal (Genk) are waiting to make their first appearance of 2016.
