City will be without a quintet of stars for Saturday’s late game against West Ham.
Wilfried Bony, Aleksandar Kolarov, Vincent Kompany, Eliaquim Mangala and Samir Nasri are all on the sidelines with different injury problems.
However, there was better news on the Fernandinho front, as Manuel Pellegrini confirmed that the midfielder is available for selection in his pre-match press conference.
The Brazilian international had missed the last three games with a muscle injury.
Pellegrini revealed: “Fernandinho is fit, he’s worked with the squad for the last two games. Mangala, Bony, Kolarov, Kompany and Nasri are out.
“Vincent is seeing different specialists to try to learn more about his injury. He will start working, I hope, next week, but we will see.
“Bony maybe has an injury which is longer than we supposed. I hope next Monday he will start working with the squad.
“Aleks has a muscle injury in his calf – not very big. I hope at the end of the next week he’ll be working with the squad.”
City face a West Ham side who beat them at the Etihad Stadium earlier this season.
However, Manuel believes that his side were unlucky not to get more from that game and is encouraged by the convincing win over Crystal Palace last weekend.
“We have a difficult game against a very good team,” Pellegrini warned.
“They beat us here at home earlier this season in a match I think we had 20 chances to score but we didn’t do it.
“I hope we will go for the three points and that we will demonstrate why we’re involved in the title.
“I think that our mentality is to be an attacking team – maybe a lot of times you cannot score but we always create chances. If you create chances and score four goals as we did last time, I’m always happy.
“It’s the best way to win titles for me.
“In some games, especially away, we couldn’t score so I hope tomorrow we will return, as we did against Watford, to score goals and win.”
Pellegrini also seemed to hint at a loan move for Patrick Roberts.
The summer signing has been out of action with an injury for the last few weeks but the Chilean ruled out any permanent transfers in the month of January.
“Patrick has been injured for the last two or three weeks – now we’ll talk about his future,” Manuel said.
“It was important for him to work with the first-team for the first half of the season, now we’ll see about the next part.
“I say once again, we are happy with the squad, we will not bring anyone in and no-one will go.”
Take us to Wembley
In the big games, our fans can make a difference.
That will certainly be the case when Everton visit the Etihad Stadium for the second leg of the Capital One Cup semi- final on Wednesday 27 January, kick off 7.45pm.
It’s set to be a thrilling night of cup football and we’re hoping the roar of the City crowd can take us to Wembley and one step closer to a first piece of silverware this season.
