How did City’s players get on for the respective international sides?

Many of our players have received call-ups to senior and youth international teams for games over the current international break and here is a round-up of who played where…

Sergio Aguero and Nicolas Otamendi started for Argentina in their 2-1 win against Chile in the 2018 World Cup qualifier.

Our number 10 was substituted with 25 minutes to play, while Nicolas played the full game on his return from injury. Pablo Zabaleta and Martin Demichelis were unused substitutes.

Earlier in the evening, midfielder David Silva was a second half substitute for Spain in the 1-1 draw with Italy.

‘El Mago’ came on to replace goalscorer Aritz Aduriz in a lively 20 minute cameo in Udine.

Elsewhere, City trio Angus Gunn, Kean Bryan and Brandon Barker all started in England U20s 4-1 win against Canada with the latter getting on the score sheet at Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium.

Neil Dewsnip named Cameron Humphreys, Jacob Davenport and Isaac Buckley in the England U18s starting XI to face Austria U18s on Wednesday.

Lukas Nmecha was a second half substitute for Buckley and scored the winning goal just three minutes after coming on to seal a 3-2 victory.

Keeping with Austria and Sinan Bytyqi played the first half in Austria U21s 1-0 friendly defeat against Ukraine U21s on Friday.

And finally, Jack Byrne starred for Ireland U21s in their 4-1 loss against Italy U21s in a 2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifier.

Noel King’s side took the in Waterford when the 19-year old’s free kick was turned in to his own net by Rolando Mandragora.

Byrne, who was training with the senior squad in midweek, was picked out by the Irish Independent as one of the star players. You can read more about that in Friday’s ‘What the media says’.
