Brazil threw a two goal lead away to draw 2-2 with Uruguay and drop vital World Cup Qualification points.

Fernandinho played 67 minutes of the game before being replaced by Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho.

Brazil got off to a flying start with a goal inside the first minute from Douglas Costa and Renato Augusto doubled the lead to give the hosts a commanding advantage – but Uruguay pulled one back before the break through Edinson Cavani.

Luis Suarez levelled four minutes after half-time to give the visitors a vital point.

The Brazilians remain in third spot, though are now one of three teams on eight points, one of whom is Argentina.

Kelechi Iheanacho played for 64 minutes of Nigeria’s 1-1 draw with Egypt with the City teenager assisting the Super Eagles’ goal after his shot struck the bar before ball was turned home.

It was Kelechi’s full international debut having appeared off the bench for his country earlier this season.

Wilfried Bony was in action for Ivory Coast who edged past Sudan 1-0. Yaya Toure didn’t travel to Africa after suffering a recurrence of his heel injury.

The Elephants go top of their AFCON qualifying group as a result.

Bacary Sagna was an unused sub as France beat Holland 3-2 at an emotional Amsterdam Arena.

The crowd showed their appreciation of Dutch legend Johan Cruyff on 14 minutes as a mark of respect for the great man who died last Thursday.

David Silva could feature for Spain tomorrow evening against Romania while there will be several City stars in action on Tuesday evening before those on international duty return to their clubs.
