A host of Manchester City stars are on international duty over the next few days, although Aleks Kolarov has already tasted action for his country.
The left-back played the full 90 minutes of Serbia’s meeting with Poland in Poznan – where Aleks also briefly featured when City lost to Lech Poznan in the Europa League in 2010 – but was on the losing side, with Jakub Blaszczykowski’s goal giving the hosts a 1-0 victory.
David Silva is in the Spain squad to face Italy in Udine.
A busy day across several time zones, with Kelechi Iheanacho hoping to build on his fine season for City by aiding Nigeria in the first of their two African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Egypt.
Wilfried Bony is with Ivory Coast for the first of their pair of AFCON qualifiers against Sudan.
"Watch and learn Lionel, watch and learn..."
Lying sixth in their group some seven points behind Ecuador, the 2014 World Cup finalists have won just one of their four qualifiers so far.
Bacary Sagna and France face the Netherlands in Amsterdam.
Fernandinho is in Recife with Brazil, where the hosts face a Uruguay side likely to feature Luiz Suarez for the first time since his notorious clash with Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup that led to his nine-match ban from competitive international football.
