No offence to ‘the Power’, ‘Barney’ or ‘Jaws’ but Darts could do with a bit of glamour and according to the Sun our Roque Santa Cruz could be just the man to supply it.

The paper’s very own Sid Waddell - Martin Blackburn – reckons that the striker is pining for a bit of double trouble after becoming hooked on the sport whilst at Rovers.

‘Roque Santa Cruz hopes to make up for his lack of darts action by hitting the bullseye against Burnley today,” claims Blackburn...that’s Martin not the Ewood Park club in case you are confused.

‘Santa Cruz became hooked on darts during an injury-plagued last few months at Blackburn (the club not chez Martin) and his target was to become Paraguay number one.’

In a light hearted exchange RSC told MB:

“Darts is an alternative to football for me to think about. But sadly there is no board at City. We have a pool table and there is good quality amongst the players but no darts.  That is a shame.”

Nice to know that should the ‘Indoor League’ ever make a television come back that our lads are well prepared. Anyone seen Carlos play shove ha’penny?

The Mirror, meanwhile, has what we reckon is the 20th Robinho ‘Exclusive’ since the transfer window closed!

In this one author John Cross reckons there will be a meeting between City and Barcelona to talk about a deal during the team’s stay in Abu Dhabi next week.

“Barcelona technical director Txiki Begiristain will lead a delegation from the Spanish giants the thrash out a deal for Manchester City’s superstar Robinho on Wednesday,” he writes.

“Barca chiefs claim they have set up a meeting with Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Dubai and put forward proposals to broker a transfer.”

The Mirror reckons that Barca is willing to pay £34million and that when told that the deal was close Robinho said: ‘If so, that’s good.”

You would have thought that had they spoken to Robi they might have elicited a few more quotes for a story they confine to a few paragraphs!

In the rest of the papers there is the usual build up to today’s match but the Mail in their ‘One to Watch’ column highlight Vladimir Weiss.

“The 19-year-old winger is only 5’ 8” but he is very quick and tricky, similar to Aaron Lennon and club colleague Shaun Wright-Phillips’ they inform their readership.

Vlad they have been paying attention!!
