It might be chilly outside, but things are certainly heating up this morning ahead of City’s head to head with fierce rivals Man United.
Former United player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been found stoking the fire ahead of Sunday’s showdown, taunting the Blues with the label of “United’s little brother.”
“Manchester United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Manchester City are like a ‘"little brother"’ who will never take their ‘"big brother's"’ place,” reports the BBC.
“Speaking to Football Focus, Solskjaer, who scored 126 goals in 366 appearances in an 11-year career at Old Trafford, said: ‘"It's always this thing about being the big brother and the little brother coming to try to overtake the big brother.”’
Well Ole, it seems Mr Joe Public would disagree with you on that one. According to The Daily Mail, City are the favourites to win this festive fixture.
“Punters are backing Manchester City to put their Champions League misery behind them by securing a derby win over neighbours Manchester United on Sunday,” writes the paper’s Tony Kelshaw.
“The Blues may have flopped in Europe again this season but will go back to the top of the Premier League table on goal difference if they claim victory at Etihad Stadium.”
Meanwhile, Maicon has been telling website sportsmole.co.uk of his derby day excitement!
“Maicon has declared that he is excited to match the atmosphere of a Manchester derby against others he has sampled in a varied career,” reports Liam Power.
“The Brazilian international has fond memories of playing for Inter against AC Milan, scoring on two occasions in the San Siro showpiece.
“Now with Manchester City, Maicon believes that a victory over bitter rivals Manchester United can help give their season a huge boost.”
