Roy is keen on City!

Roy Keane has followed his former United teammate Gary Neville into the world of punditry and newspaper columns and the Irishman has kicked off life on the Sun payroll by backing the Blues.

In the brand new Sun on Sunday which celebrated its first issue today, and no doubt put a dent into the circulations of the other Sabbath red tops, Keane says he believes that this week’s events have swung title momentum back in City’s favour.

‘Alex Ferguson would have smelled blood. But now City are back in a strong position,’ he notes

‘We all know the Europa League is not a priority for either City or Manchester United. Yet Roberto Mancini will be feeling a lot better than Ferguson after last week.

‘You get nothing but benefits from winning games and there are a lot of negatives that go with losing.

‘It looks like, even without playing a game, Tevez coming back has strengthened City. His presence has the other strikers on their toes.

'It's the perfect scenario for Mancini. He had made it clear he would not accept Tevez back unless he apologised and the player has said sorry.

‘With him and the Toure brothers back over the last week or so, it's like City have brought in three new signings. And you can't underestimate the impact that can have.

Yaya Toure brings a physical presence to midfield that no other City player has. Yet the effect the return of those players can have is not just in terms of their own ability but the lift that it can give to their team-mates.

Ferguson may be an experienced manager but Mancini has won Serie A with Inter Milan, so it's not like he's a novice

Someone who is still learning his trade is young striker John Guidetti but, according to the Daily Star on Sunday, he is dreaming of a return to the Etihad Stadium.

'Swedish striker Guidetti, who joined City aged 15, insists he can transfer his form in Dutch football to the Premier League,' says the article.

'He has scored 16 goals in 14 Eredivisie games on loan to Feyenoord this season, including ten in his last five matches.

'And he said: “It’s my dream to break into City’s side. I believe in myself.” '

It is a long time to the next transfer window open but Alan Nixon in the People reports that Mancini is interested in signing Bayern Munich playmaker Toni Kroos.

He reckons Mancini flew to Germany last weekend to watch him and that ‘City's 'spies' have been keeping a keen eye on the GBP20m rated star.’

Meanwhile if there is a ‘y’ in the day then there will be a Mario Balotelli story and the Sunday Mirror obliges with an unattributed piece which quotes his sister Christina.

"He is very shy, even if he likes to be getting attention, this is also a characteristic of people who are shy. He likes to make other people laugh. He is a very playful character. Having the media always around and knowing they want to talk about him, I think has affected him," she is reported to have said.
