City have snow problem in staying on top

City's Saturday tea-time stroll in the snow generates plenty of comment and even Mario Balotelli gets a look-in despite not even playing.

The Sunday Express' Richard Jolly reflects on how influential Adam Johnson was and how the Blues have gone past totals set last season as the title tilt progresses:

"The initial impetus came from a man given a rare start. Normally a substitute, Adam Johnson set about making an impact. He darted past Baird and went to ground when the Northern Ireland international left a leg out. There may not have been much contact, but referee Mike Dean pointed to the spot. A confident Aguero scored.

"In the process, the Argentine ended his longest drought as a City player. Not that it was exactly huge. It had lasted only five games.

"But it was a landmark strike in more ways than one. City only mustered 60 league goals in the whole of last season. With the winter snow landing on the Etihad, Aguero’s spot-kick meant they cruised past that total for the current campaign. Cautious then, they are more cavalier now – a transformed team."

As for Mario Balotelli, Yahoo's Brooks Peck picks up on footage of the striker doing a spot of conjuring while watching last night's 3-0 win:

"As City eased to a 3-0 win over Fulham on Saturday, Balotelli made a Coke can disappear under his magical cloth. Kind of. Anyway, I've decided that unimpressive magic is definitely Mario's second calling. Every time he's banned from football, he needs to go on tour with an elaborate stage show where he shocks and amazes audiences with his easily solved illusions."

And there's plenty of debate over who the next England captain could be, and the Telegraph's Duncan White proposes our very own Joe Hart:

"One player who is guaranteed his place in the side — and has emerged as one of England’s best performers — is Joe Hart. His candidacy should be taken seriously, especially if Gerrard incurs further injury problems.

"The argument that he is too young and too inexperienced does not stack up. He turns 25 in April and is in the process of his fifth season as a top-flight goalkeeper.

"He has the experience of having gone to South Africa for the last tournament and played in the Champions League this season.

"He would also represent a break from the dressing room politics between the squad’s more experienced players. He is a popular presence in the squad, very confident and a good communicator. He is relaxed with the media and would have no problem fulfilling the media duties the position demands."
