Serbian full-back is bound for Beijing but that doesn't stop rumours linking him with a move to Serie A.
The imminent Olympics are dominating back pages and top billing on internet news outlets today but there’s still a few nuggets of City interest to be found.
According to the website:
“Serie A champions Juventus have also held an interest in signing Kolarov, but the Italian newspaper [Corriere Dello Sport] suggests the Nerazzurri are in advanced talks with the Serbian, as they look recruit a potential replacement for Maicon, who is expected to leave the club with Real Madrid touted as the most likely destination for the Brazilian.
“Inter have also shown interest in Manchester City’s Nigel De Jong, another former highly-regarded player at the Etihad Stadium who has been reduced to a tangential figure over the past year.”
Remember, as always, that no-one has joined or left the club until you see it confirmed here on the site.
Elsewhere, there are rumours abound that Sheikh Mansour will attend the London 2012 Olympic Games, allegedly to scout for playing talent, according to the Mirror.
Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has fired a warning shot to the new Premier League champions, insisting that their losing the title was “madness that won’t be repeated”.
“Fair play to City. You’ve got to be a good team to win the league, so I wouldn’t take anything away from them,” Ferdinand told The Sun.
“But if you gave us the last few games of the season and put us in that situation again, it wouldn’t happen — it was just madness.
“That’s down to us, though. We take full blame for it and don’t look to anyone else.”
That’s all for today, folks. Don’t forget that the team arrive in China today and you can follow all of their activity here on the Official Manchester City website.
