Roberto Mancini is looking to bolster his defence and sources this morning suggest Slovakian international Martin Skrtel may fit the bill.
The Sun reports that the Liverpool player of the year is attracting the attention of the City boss after contract talks with the Merseyside outfit stalled.
The Daily Mail says that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez will try to sign David Silva from City with Argentina striker Gonzalo Higuain coming in the other direction. The paper suggests that the Spanish champions have a sizeable transfer kitty with which to attempt an audacious bid.
The Mail also suggests that Newcastle are hoping to beat local rivals Sunderland to the signature of City starlet John Guidetti. The Swedish striker spent last season on loan at Feyenoord where he scored an impressive 20 goals in 23 games.
Just in case you missed it, England play Italy at the weekend and the media is going Mario crazy.
Sky Sports have spoken to Mario's City team mates James Milner and Joleon Lescott. Milner admitted that you don't always know what you are going to get with the Italian striker but also highlighted the qualities of the City man, saying
We've seen Mario, he is a different player, he's going to cause you problems. He is very strong, shooting-wise he can cause problems, he is tricky, a clever player as well.
Milner also thinks that Lescott's familiarity with Balototelli will be an advantage for the England defender stating,
"He knows Mario well. He trains with him every day and I'm sure he will keep him quiet."
However, Joleon points out that this knowledge works both way and says he will keep his distance from his City colleague in the run up to the quarter final.
"There won't be texts between us. We are here for different teams. We play together at club level but international level is totally different."
