The month of November is deemed a crucial month in the world of football, as the league table really starts to take shape and talk of transfers beings in earnest, once again.
This shift is certainly reflected in the back pages this morning as we enter autumn’s final phase.
According to goal.com, City’s newly appointed Director of Football has already got his eye on one of Europe’s hottest prospects.
“Txiki Begiristain has quickly identified one of his first targets - Spanish midfield sensation Benat,” writes Greg Stobart.
“The former Barcelona technical director, who took up the post earlier this week, is now charged with identifying the best talent around the globe for boss Roberto Mancini.
“Mancini has been handed reports on Benat, 25, who is currently hot property at Real Betis, after finally making the breakthrough into the Spanish national team this year.
“Begiristain is also a big admirer of the busy playmaker, who is likened to Bayern Munich's Javi Martinez, a player City failed to capture in the summer.
“The club's expanding Spanish network have been tipped off that talks over a new contract for Benat have stalled.
“His current deal expires in 2014 - and the player has a €20 million (£16.2m) release clause.”
Meanwhile, The Mirror claims that the Blues are set for a three-way race to secure the signature of Obolon Kiev’s young goalkeeper Igor Berezovsky.
“The big 22-year-old glove man is making a stir at Obolon and looks like busting into Ukraine national side, so it's a case of buy early before the rush,” writes Alex Hankin.
“The 6ft 4in glover is currently with the Ukraine Under-21 side, but expected to make the leap up to senior level in the current World Cup qualifying campaign, with reports suggesting he'll be guarding the onion bag for the games against Poland and Moldova in March.
“Man City boss Roberto Mancini is rumoured to be viewing the lad as an ideal back up for Joe Hart.”
You can expect a lot more where this came from over the coming months, but remember, we at mcfc.co.uk will be first to let you know if there are any movements in or out of the club this winter.
