A confident Kolarov speaks out

It takes a bit of rummaging around this morning, among the excited reaction to Andy Murray’s emphatic US Open win, to find your Blues news, but there are a few things worthy of note.

After claiming his Serbia side were better than Scotland following a 1-1 draw at Hampden on Saturday, Aleksandar Kolarov is again causing a stir.

The Serbians are preparing to host Wales tonight and the City defender has once again been airing his thoughts.

“The Manchester City defender claimed his Serbia side should have no problems keeping a “long-ball” outfit like Wales under wraps,” reports the Sun’s Martin Blackburn.

“But Welsh boss Coleman is confident Kolarov will be kept quiet by trying to stop Spurs flier Bale in Novi Sad.”

Elsewhere, Vincent Kompany has been speaking about City’s Champions League chances and insists the Blues are up for the challenge their group presents.

“Despite the calibre of this campaign’s opponents, Kompany is confident his side can progress,” reports FootballFanCast.

“Games like this are why you are in the Champions League. I thought it couldn’t get more difficult than last year but there you go,” said the skipper.

“It’s a great challenge. I think we are the sort of team which gets better as the challenges get even greater.

“It’s perfect for us. There won’t be any moments where we will be surprised. The motivation will be sky-high, the atmosphere great. I couldn’t think of a better way to play the Champions League.

“It’s all about how far you can get but it’s even nicer when you play against the best teams,” he concluded.
