That transfer window might have slammed shut on Friday night but it’s just like it never closed in today’s papers, as City are linked with a world record transfer bid.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been linked with a sensational £95m move to City after revealing to supporters that he’s “sad” at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid’s undisputed star man wouldn’t go into details as to what had caused his distress but that hasn’t stopped the Daily Star speculating a return to Manchester – the Blue half – could be on the cards.

“Superstar Ronaldo has told Real Madrid president Florentino Perez he is unhappy at the club and wants to leave in a shock move which has stunned the Spanish giants,” writes Paul Brown.

“Now, City are working on an eye-watering four year contract offer to bring the former Manchester United star back to the Premier League.”

Ronaldo had netted twice in Real’s routine 3-0 win over Granada on Sunday but curiously didn’t celebrate either goal.

When quizzed on the lack of celebration, Cristiano explained:

I’m sad. When I don’t celebrate goals, it’s because I’m not happy.

...Cristiano Ronaldo..

“It’s a professional thing. Real Madrid know why I’m not happy.”

Expect this one to run and run in the build-up to City’s Champions League encounter with Cristiano’s side in the Champions League but don't forget that the only place to find confirmed transfer news is on this here website.

However, it's worth noting that Club officials strenuously deny there is even a grain of truth in this story!

Elsewhere in the day’s papers, there’s another “man reborn” style piece on Carlos Tevez in The Independent with the title: “Tevez back in love with City… but out of love with Argentina.”

Tevez returned to Buenos Aries despite not being called up to the Argentine national team for this international break and he revealed that his disagreement with the club might have been for the best, given his appetite for medals this season.

“I am focused on my club and on the Premier League and the Champions League,” Carlos told reporters.

“This is what I wanted - to have this hunger for success back again.

"The disagreement with Roberto [Mancini] has ended up being good for me because it has helped give me back this hunger.

Before, I was playing just to attract the attention of the national team manager, now I'm playing for the enjoyment and because I have that desire to win things.

Finally, Kolo Toure’s agent has dismissed rumours linking the Ivory Coast defender with a move to Galatasaray, maintaining that his client is fully committed to Manchester City.

The Turkish transfer window doesn't close for another couple of days but Toure has moved to confirm his loyalty to City in the wake of heavy interest from Gala.

That’s according to SkySports.com.

"Kolo is flattered by the interest from Galatasaray but he is happy at Man City,” said Saif Rubie.

"Kolo has spoken to the manager and owners and he remains as committed to the club as the day he signed."
