Former City and Leeds winger David White forecasts a tight FA Cup fifth round clash but backs the Blues to book a place in Sunday's sixth round draw.
White, who represented both sides with distinction in the late eighties and early nineties, thinks Leeds will make it tough but believes that the Premier League champions should have enough to see off the visitors.
“Mancini could change 10 or 11 players in that team and Leeds will still be facing 11 opponents with points to prove to be in the team,” White posited in an interview with the Manchester Evening News.
“They will simply be too much for my other old club Leeds – I don’t expect anything other than a City win and reckon it will be 3-0 or 3-1.
“But Leeds will be tough and they will give them a game as Neil Warnock has got results wherever he has been.
“He has a formula that works for him and it will be old fashioned, no-nonsense football.
“And James Milner is one player who would always be in my team and I am sure he will be back in this tie. The manager can pick whatever team he wants and get a result – that is the quality in depth they have in the squad.”
In transfer speculation, reported January target Christian Benteke is once against linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium.
His agent Kismet Eris is quoted on Goal.com as saying: “It is normal that if you go to a club and do well, then other clubs will show an interest.
“So why not take the step up to the next level if the opportunity is there?
“At the end of the season interested clubs will talk to Villa - but it has to be right for Villa, the buying club and Christian.”
Elsewhere, Oldham’s last gasp equaliser against Everton dominates the headlines but buried beneath that are rumours of a City summer bid for Toffees midfielder Marouane Fellaini.
“The 25-year-old Belgian is also a top target for Chelsea, but the European champions will now have to battle it out with mega-rich rivals City in the summer,” reads the story in today’s Mirror.
“The Eastlands club's bosses will offer a deal worth £23million, which could include up to two players.
“Everton boss David Moyes might be tempted if defender Gael Clichy is part of the deal.”
