L’Equipe: City weighing up Ibra swoop?

Saturday morning’s top story concerns Zlatan Ibrahmivoic and a proposed move to the Etihad Stadium.

Carlos Tevez left for Juventus just a couple of weeks ago and Manuel Pellegrini has already suggested he may add a striker to his squad before the window is through.

While Jack De Menezes of the Independent doesn’t think a move for Zlatan is imminent, he does believe it’s a possibility after Edinson Cavani joined PSG.

“L’Equipe have reported that manager Manuel Pellegrini could make a move for the Swedish international as he considers his options up front, saying the club are "already very interested" in the forward,” De Menezes writes.

“Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and John Guidetti remain at the club after Tevez moved on to Serie A champions Juventus, but it is widely expected that the former Malaga manager will add another striker to his squad.

“City have been linked with both Stevan Jovetic and Alvaro Negredo over the last couple of days after they appear to have missed out Edinson Cavani, but the Uruguayan could be the reason that sees ‘Ibra’ move to the Etihad.”

In other news, Pablo Zabaleta has given an interview to an Italian football publication and revealed that he would like to play in Serie A - someday.

"It's certainly a League I'd like to play in,” said Pablo.

“A team? I consider Fiorentina to be an interesting team. I have always liked them since the days of Batistuta.

“Juventus, Milan and Inter are big clubs though.”

Finally, staying in Italy, rumours are gathering momentum that Stevan Jovetic is edging closer to a move to City.

The Fiorentina striker has repeatedly been linked with a switch to Manchester but there could be competition from across town – according to the Independent.

“Should a deal go through to take Jovetic to the Etihad, it will likely scupper any chance of signing either Alvaro Negredo and Pepe – two players that new manager Manuel Pellegrini has admitted his interest in,” the story reads.

“United could still enter the race for Jovetic, with boss David Moyes eager to bring a new striker to the club after they missed out on Robert Lewandowski, who seems certain to be moving to Bayern Munich next season.”
