Though the Blues have been strongly linked in the Press with Brazilian striker Fred, the player seems less than keen to quit his homeland according to Gulf Today.
Fred shone at the recent Confederations Cup, bagging a couple against Spain in the final and sending his stock soaring – but the player is unsure about moving abroad with the World Cup less than a year away.
“Brazil striker Fred has declared his wish to remain at Rio de Janeiro club Fluminense after reportedly attracting interest from English side Manchester City,” say Gulf Today.
“The 29-year-old scored five goals from as many matches in Brazil’s triumphant Confederations Cup campaign last month.
“His prolific form for both club and country has also caught the eye of Turkey’s Fenerbahce.
‘We don’t know what will happen in the future but right now I don’t see myself leaving Fluminense,’ Fred told Radio Brasil. ‘I have a long contract with Fluminense and my intention is to see it out.’”
In Italy, Roma have been a continued source of City transfer rumours over the past 12 months with Daniele de Rossi, Pablo Osvaldo and now highly-rated midfielder Miralem Pjanic.
Swarup Pokhrel writes: “Transfer rumors regarding Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic have resurfaced with reports linking him to a move to Manchester City.
“Newly appointed manager Manuel Pellegrini is believed to be a keen admirer of the 23-year old.
“According to Tuttomercatoweb, Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the Bosnian, but the Citizens are preparing an offer for the Giallorossi to consider.
“As things stand, City will need to come up with a substantial offer to convince Roma to part ways with their €14 million rated player.”
